Speech Olympiad

Deadline: 

  • November 30, 2024 

Video Format: 

  • Landscape 
  • The video must first be uploaded to your personal YouTube channel and set to public. 
  • Subsequently, the committee will provide a form that needs to be filled out. 
  • The video cannot be edited. (one take)

YouTube Naming Format: 

  • Speech Competition of ICFO 2024 – (Participant Name) – (Participant Number) 

Duration: 

  • 3 – 8 minutes 

Language: 

  • Choose between English or Indonesian (It is not allowed to submit two works in two languages. One participant number is for one video work).

Theme: 

Here are five compelling themes for a secondary school speech competition:

  • The Role of Youth in Shaping the Future – Exploring how young people can influence positive changes in society, from environmental issues to social justice.
  • The Impact of Technology on Our Lives – Discussing both the benefits and challenges of modern technology on mental health, relationships, and education.
  • Building a Sustainable World – Ideas and actions for a sustainable future, from eco-friendly practices to innovative solutions to environmental problems.
  • Mental Health Matters: Breaking the Stigma – A powerful theme focusing on mental health awareness, understanding, and the importance of seeking help.
  • Embracing Diversity and Inclusion – The importance of respecting and celebrating different cultures, perspectives, and backgrounds to build a more inclusive society.

Encourage you to think critically and express your views on relevant issues affecting their generation and the world around them.

   Criteria:

     Neatness of attire

     Body posture (posture, expression)

     Confidence

   Score:

     9-10: Excellent

     7-8: Good

     5-6: Fair

     3-4: Poor

     1-2: Very poor

  • Mastery of Material (25%)

   Criteria:

     Relevance of the material to the theme

     Depth of understanding of the material

     Clear presentation flow

   Score:

     23-25: Excellent

     19-22: Good

     15-18: Fair

     10-14: Poor

     5-9: Very poor

  • Delivery (25%)

   Criteria:

     Articulation (clarity of speech)

     Intonation and speech rhythm

     Proper use of language

   Score:

     23-25: Excellent

     19-22: Good

     15-18: Fair

     10-14: Poor

     5-9: Very poor

  • Influence (20%)

   Criteria:

     Ability to influence the audience (persuasive)

     Appropriateness of body language with the material

     Use of expressions that support the speech

   Score:

     18-20: Excellent

     14-17: Good

     10-13: Fair

     6-9: Poor

     1-5: Very poor

  • Time Management (10%)

   Criteria:

     Adherence to the allotted speech duration

     Ability to manage tempo (not too fast or slow)

   Score:

     9-10: Excellent

     7-8: Good

     5-6: Fair

     3-4: Poor

     1-2: Very poor

  • Creativity (10%)

   Criteria:

     Uniqueness of ideas or approach in presenting the material

     Use of engaging language or metaphors

     Innovation in delivery (e.g., humor, storytelling)

   Score:

     9-10: Excellent

     7-8: Good

     5-6: Fair

     3-4: Poor

     1-2: Very poor

Maximum Total Score: 100

Additional Notes:

  • Judges may provide specific feedback or comments to participants at the end of the evaluation sheet.
  • The final score is the sum of all evaluation criteria.
